What better way to start off your Monday than with some blackface runway stylings? I spotted this over at TrendyNation, from Taisha Nobukuni’s show at Tokyo Fashion Week.

what can you expect of the Fashion industry? They will exploit ANYTHING just to see overpriced clothing! I don’t even pay attention to any of that crap anymore because most of it is so stupid and pretentious…but this “blackface” thing really takes the cake. HUMPH!

there were a number of japanese products in japan with the “coon” imagery or blackface icons…from toothpaste and more…and this was only a few years ago

That’s true but there are less and less products out like that because someone showed a Japanese company some American products of a buck-toothed, coke bottle glasses wearing Japanese caricature and they didn’t like it so much, I think they saw the point. As for the black face, when I was in japan it was not a racist thing, a lot of the younger japanese wish they were black.
