Now why would a show entitled “F*ck Black People” raise eyebrows?

JC
shoot the messengerIf you have been sucked into the whole Cosby vs. Dyson debate (e.g. why are black people in the predicament they are in), then you might be interested to know that the same things are being discussed in the UK. In fact, it seems like there is a Cosby there, but in the form of a woman who has created a film entitled “Shoot the Messenger” (originally entitled F*ck Black People — what genius thought of that?!). It takes a look at Britain’s black community and remains critical of their complaints.

The hot potato is her belief that Britain’s black community should stop blaming crime, broken homes and poor educational achievement on typical liberal whipping boys such as the government, lack of gun control or racism. ‘I think it’s to do with the fact we’re not grabbing the bull by the horns; we’re still pointing the finger and saying, “It’s somebody else’s fault.” I’m very concerned about the next generation: they should be battling for their futures, getting in the fray as opposed to standing on the sidelines and saying, “The government needs to do this.” We need to take charge.’

There is a pretty good debate going on in response to the post I put up last week on the new Juan Williams book, Enough. I stand by what I said — that we need systemic change, with a focus specifically on education. And while I agree that people taking charge and becoming activists for change is good — of course, I mean, look at what I spend most of my time on…. :) I also believe that there are systemic inequalities that cannot be ignored. It shouldn’t be a this side vs. that side conversation since I see truth in both arguments. But I guess that’s the way we fight in the good old US of A, huh? Everything’s always black and white…us vs. them…wrong and right. :|

I read about that film on another British website and, as I’m sure many people are, I’m suprised–given the supposed “virtuous intent” of the director and screenwriter–that a film called “F*ck Black People” was the best attempt they could come up with to awaken and encourage the black community.

AKA, The filmmakers are full of crap and should be derided for using tactless sensationialism at the expense of the entire black community to get publicity. If they were as concerned as they say they are, they’d put their money where their mouth is.

Exactly, Black people are holding on to the past like a royal purple cloak.
I am mixed so mixed you could miss me. But because of my physical ness I see many worlds not just black and white. The whites hold blacks to a certain behavior pattern and when they bust out complain they are trying to be something they are not and in many cases the whipped black people are chiming the same complain. I say get the hell up off the ground and find your own name and fame and call it what you want , not just a dance and booty shakinthe whites can make money off of. Real lives that are a mixture of every human being on earth because that is what we are. EveryoneElse. Give up the gripe black people and create your self.

Charlotte, what mess is this you have posted above me?

What a sad little misguided hypocrite you are. You claim to have both world views, unbiased, but yet in your post you have lumped ALL black people into the same category 1.) We ARE all not the same dear. (Can your childish mind comprehend that?) 2.) Not all black women are hoes 3.)Many stupid, complacent black men out there

However, this post in useless. Charlotte dear, get away from the tv screen and into the real life. Everything is not what it seems.

To reply to post, Charlotte honey, something you could not do-this is biased. Instead of actually helping the situation, of finding the real answer (by not pointing the finger) This issue could be solved. But of course to you 1.) All black people steal 2.) lazy Whatever ridiculous posts you have yourself said.

I don’t want you to preach to me dear. YOU, of all people would be the last person I would listen to. Your post seem to impulsive, I’ll give you that (or you just can’t spell) But dear, please, THINK before you post dear. (I know how hard it is for you to do.)

Um, Charlette, absolutely NO black people that I know, in real life, act like anything I see in an R.Kelly video, or Boyz In The Hood, or whatever your source is…

They are overwhelmingly decent hard working middle class people who ARE living their lives….

But my dad was still passed over for promotions for years, my grandmother raised 2 kids in the projects (despite a 2 job household - this was the 1950s), drugs have invaded a formerly very good blue collar 90% black neighborhood in my area, and if my hair is braided (as a black/white mixed woman) I have trouble hailing that stereotypical cab.

    Justin, that’s slander… ;)
Mods? Either of you bored enough to check IPs?

Lyonside, I don’t mean to slander anyone. Charlette wants us to believe that she can see things from different perspectives and ‘my dear’ Renee seems so understanding.
If I were to criticise Charlette I would feel like a hypocrite.

Please, who cares in the end, This has become a cottage industry : Race in the world, by people who are so ‘concerned ‘ about our behavior that they are writing movies, books, and making 10,000 dollars in speaking engagments telling black people that they need to ’show some pride’. Frankly, I don’t want to be black anymore because it’s bad enough I have to deal with the majority society and their BULLSHIT, Now I got to hear some self- righteous assholes who are treating Black folks worldwide like children who need to be lectured too.

I don’t want to be black anymore because in the past, People like Malcolm, Martin, Fannie Lou, and the rest of our freedom fighters always had a “soft touch” when it to criticizing black folks behavior and understood that society created the problems but we would have to solve them. These proud African- Americans (and I use that word with pride) never condesended to us and always did it out of love. These motherfuckas like Hall, Cosby, Mc Worther, Juan Williams, crawl like maggots on a carcass.

If being black is to be constantly trying to beat someone down to ’shock’ and give tough love embrassment never helps people progress that is called conservatism
