Listen to Carmen’s BlogHer panel on identity and obligation
JC
As we’ve mentioned, Carmen was recently invited to speak at the BlogHer Conference in San Jose, CA. BlogHer’s mission is to create opportunities for women bloggers to pursue exposure, education, and community. Carmen was a panelist for a session on “Identity and Obligation,” along with Karen Walrond from Chookooloonks, Maria Niles from Fizz, Dawn Rouse from I Am Doing the Best I Can, and Marisa Trevino from Latina Lista.
BlogHer has started releasing podcasts from the sessions, so if you’d like to listen to Carmen’s panel, please right-click here to download the MP3.
Here’s the description of the panel, which took place on July 29, 2006:
Identity & Obligation: Do you control which parts of your identity are exposed? Do you feel an obligation to represent for your gender, race or culture? Do you feel you’re not allowed to comment on issues facing a group to which you don’t belong? Maria Niles moderates a discussion with Karen Walrond, Dawn Rouse, Marisa Trevino and Carmen Van Kerckhove on how we slice and dice our identity.
