I think the Luther/Prince disparity could’ve come from two things:
1. While Prince was still aggressive enough to put many a horny leprechaun to shame, Luther was mellow and smooth– analogous to the stereotype of masculinity.
2. It was an open secret in the industry (and to a lesser degree, the world) that Luther was indeed gay.
