INTERVIEW WITH SUSAN KOSHY
Carmen interviews Professor Susan Koshy, author of the new book Sexual Naturalization: Asian Americans And Miscegenation. Interracial relationships and the history of anti-miscegenation laws are usually talked about in black/white terms, but Prof Koshy’s book is a fascinating look at the topic from an Asian-American perspective.

LISTENER FEEDBACK
The two documentaries mentioned in listener Stacy’s voicemail were Journey of Man by Dr. Spencer Wells and The Real Eve, narrated by Danny Glover. You can learn more about Dr. Wells’ Genographic Project at the National Geographic Web site.

Form the show we learn that White women needeed to be protected form the “bad” men of color and that well white men could chose the women they wanted regardless of color. I have theory on why in Britain you have more black women marrying outside their community than in America. It’s not taboo for Afro caribbean women to marry outside the black community. As an Afro Carribeaan woman myself I was never told that i could not date other men of color or white men . While in America there is still this stigma of slavery that looms and the fact that both sides are somewath colorstruck, but mostly there are so many stereotypes about black women in America in general. They are oversexualized by rappers and in movies.
