“Are you scared by the size of their BMW?”
CVK
(Many thanks to Brittney for unearthing this gem!) Asiana is an online magazine for South Asians in the U.K. and ran this article — a roundtable of various women’s views on dating black men. It’s pretty clear just from glancing at the page that the publication completely buys into the sexual stereotypes of black men. The article is illustrated with two photos of shirtless, muscular black celebrities (Tyson Beckford and I believe the other one is Tyrese but I’m not 100% sure).
While the roundtable does talk about racism towards blacks, cultural appropriation, and interracial tensions, it takes about two seconds for them to get to “the size of their you-know-what.” And from there, the conversation gets really, really dumb:
Black men are perceived as having a better physique, stamina and generally well endowed. Does that work in their favour or work against them?
S: What guy wouldn’t want to be thought of in that way? But we know it’s a myth, so there’s little point perpetrating that.
R: But hang on, a lot of Black guys are like that. Let’s not be so PC that we ignore that.
M: Which can be a little bit intimidating…
C: Or make you feel safe.
M: I think being big and strong can scare a lot of girls off.
C: Rubbish! What are you saying? That girls fancy wimpy blokes with tiny todgers? (Everyone except Meghna laughs)
M: No you misunderstand. A lot of girls don’t like the whole macho thing and a lot of Black men use that machismo as part of their persona which…
S: Which can be off-putting.
R: Fair enough, but are you scared by the size of their BMW?
M: What have their cars got to do with anything?
C: Black Man’s Willy! (Everyone laughs)
S: Size doesn’t matter, it’s what you do with it that counts.
C: It does matter!
S: No it doesn’t.
C: Yes it does.
M: It doesn’t.
C: Does.
As if that weren’t enough, the next question posed by the facilitator is this:
There’s a common complaint made by our Black sisters that Black men aren’t as respectful to their women as they could be. Apparently they’re not very good at going downstairs…

[…] Either way the entire issue is interesting. But I have to ask. Do Asian men really want to be super-sexualized in the West? I mean look at what it’s done to us (I felt like a damned animal reading this article)! […]
