Iraq War vet runs for Congress

CVK
Tammy Duckworth Asianweek just profiled Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War vet who’s running for Congress:

Political newcomer Tammy Duckworth has become one of the most watched candidates for this year’s congressional elections. The Iraq War veteran is a democrat running in the 6th Congressional District in Illinois, a seat vacated by retiring U.S. Representative Henry Hyde, a powerful longtime republican.

Duckworth is a unique candidate: 37, a trained helicopter pilot, and now a person with major disabilities, she is hapa, including European, Thai and Chinese heritage. Despite this unconventional background, her candidacy has drawn major backing from the democratic establishment including Illinois Senators Richard Durbin and Barak Obama.

You can find her official campaign Web site here.
