Awwww yeah! The new season of America’s Next Top Model starts tonight, and it sounds like there will be plenty of drama, controversy, and bitchiness–which is of course what makes the show so darn entertaining! Here’s a preview from the Boston Herald:
Jade, a biracial New Yorker and perhaps the most annoying, will remind viewers of Lisa, the arrogant leather-skinned drunk from Cycle 5. At 26, Jade is the oldest contestant, but thinks the show is hers to lose. How can she not know 26 is 62 in modeling career years?
I just watched a video on UPN’s Web site interviewing her, and she’s been trying to break into modeling for many years now. But she says it’s been hard because people don’t know what to make of her look. Uh… since when has being mixed been a handicap for a model? 
Also, I’m gonna go out on a limb and predict that Asian-Americans (especially dudes) are gonna HATE Gina. Here’s what the Boston Herald said about her:
Gina is a mousy Korean there to represent her people. Oh, but she hates dating Asian men.
Uh-oh! Her refusal to date Asian guys is definitely gonna piss some people off! I can’t wait to watch it tonight. And we’re getting a new episode of “Lost” too! And the “Project Runway” finale! Guess who’s gonna be parked in front of her Tivo all night long?

seriously. i’ve definitely been guilty of thinking i was, like, the only mixed person in the world, but i was half her age at the time.

It’s funny, I’ve dated several non-Asian women myself, and NOT ONE has ever complained to me about me being too patriarchal, too short, or whatever (gee, maybe cuz I’m NOT???). In fact, most complained about White or other men they had previously dated or known as being too chauvinist. I was more a welcome relief - as are many Asian men.
The only girls I ever hear this BS rhetoric from is Asian-American women who exclusively chase milkbones - all of whom are basically are just grasping at straws to justify their own self-hatred and non-Asian fetishes. And most whom have never even seriously dated an Asian man (like Gina and Hip Hapa) to hold a qualified opinion.
