Wow. It’s been a busy couple of weeks! Something New and recent articles on interracial relationships are definitely drumming up a large amount of interest on the subject! Here’s another article from Pennlive.com about the realities of interracial couplings. Our very own Carmen Van Kerckhove shares her expertise :

Couples such as the Washingtons have become the focus of New Demographic, a New York City diversity-training firm that conducts workshops across the country on interracial relationships and blended families.

Co-founder Carmen Van Kerckhove hopes the firm’s workshops dispel stereotypes, which are too often portrayed in the media as either troubled or “extremely Benetton-ad happy.”

“The reality lies in between,” Van Kerckhove said. “I think the more representations we get of interracial couples as normal, that is going to help shift how we look at those couples in society,” said Van Kerckhove, whose parents are Chinese and Belgian.
