A brand-new episode of Addicted to Race is out! If you haven’t already, please subscribe to our podcast in iTunes. Click here to launch iTunes and subscribe today, it’s absolutely free. Here’s a rundown of episode 13:
RANT:
The “oppression olympics” is the subject of Jen’s rant today. What she means is the way people try and out-victim each other and as a result, we find ourselves divided rather than united.
MIXED MEDIA WATCH NEWS UPDATE:
Carmen shares her thoughts on a recent episode of Dr. Phil in which he attempted to shed some light on race relations. The content of the episode? A racist white father outraged at his daughter’s biracial baby, a passing story (natch!) in which a mixed man’s parents convinced him and themselves that he was actually white, and a black mother who feels her mixed daughter acts “too white.”
GUEST RANT:
Luke Lee does the first-ever guest rant on Addicted to Race about mixed Asian-American women, exoticiziation and import car models. Listen in to find out what it’s all about.
INTERVIEW WITH DR. JOSEPH L. GRAVES, JR.
Carmen and Jen interview Dr. Joseph L. Graves, pre-eminent evolutionary biologist and author of The Race Myth: Why We Pretend Race Exists in America He’ll answer everything you always wanted to know about race and biology. What exactly does it mean when we say that race is a social construct? Why can racial DNA tests be misleading? Is it true that if you need a bone marrow donor, you can only find a match with someone of your own race? Are African-Americans really better at basketball than any other people? Are mixed people really more healthy/beautiful/intelligent/strong than non-mixed people?
Here’s a look at the next two episodes.
EPISODE 14 - Monday, January 30, 2006 :
This will be a bonus mini-episode in which we interview Kwame Anthony Appiah, author of the new book Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers (Issues of Our Time) (Issues of Our Time)

I liked it when Dr. Joseph L. Graves “got gangsta” at times, to break up the dry academic monotony…
However, I wonder if he subconsciously buys into racial stereotypes himself - like that of Asians being smarter - by choosing a Korean bride - and hoping that his mixed kids might be smarter or at least get perceived that way? Hoping to spare his progeny the painful racial barriers that he faced as a Black man in academia?
What might be more interesting also, would be to interview some of his ideological opposition like Steve Sailer or John Entine - or have them debate each other.
