Who is black enough, who isn't.. Who is too white acting (when you are a person of color)... Etc.. I have struggled my whole life with this question as a woman of color who "looks white" or "doesn't look black". The funny thing is, everyone thinks I am mexican or puerto rican, but I have not one drop of either in my heritage. For a long time, I felt that I had to prove myself and my blackness by acting like Huey reincarnated. I don't know where I am going with this, only to say that race is a social construct- we have to begin analysis from this standpoint. Then we can begin to understand some of the ignorance. If I am not making as much sense as I intend- it's cuz it feels like Monday- and it's been a long week already ;-) I love that we are still having these discussions.. Who is black enough, who isn’t..
