not unless all that surgery has been a subtle guise, and the little boy we knew in the ’70s (well not me, I was born in the 80’s) is gone?

Those children aren’t Michaels (biologically). The truth will soon come out.

For a website so sensitive with regard to individuals of mixed ancestry, I’m surprised to see this article prefaced with “Of course this comes as no surprise to most of us…”. This is a tiny step from “of course they’re white, look at them!”, a sentiment I consider antithetical to the purpose of this and similar websites.

My (biological) father is black and my (biological) sister has blue eyes, fair skin, and straight, naturally blonde hair. In her youth, she too might have fallen under the category of “extremely Caucasian-looking children,” and it would have come as “no surprise” to anyone if she’d been revealed to have a different father. But she doesn’t. She just falls on an extreme end of the phenotypic spectrum for black/white mixed-race people.

As Ahah implies above, this could be a complete fabrication that’s passing for truth because it is so believable: first, because people will believe anything about Jacko, and second, because people assume they can (theoretically) tell a person’s race just by how they look, and they don’t trust realities that challenge that. Of all people, the mixed-race community should most strongly reject this second assumption.

Point is: they’re not biologically his. Fine. But our relative surprise at this revelation ought to have nothing to do with how the children look.
