Intra-Asian dating is on the rise
CVK
We hear a lot about Asian women dating interracially, but according to this article from East West magazine, intra-Asian dating (people of different Asian ethnicities dating each other) is on the rise:
A study published in the Amerasia Journal, by professors Larry Hajime Shinagawa and Gin Yong Pang, titled “Asian American Panethnicity and Intermarriage,” found that among all Asian ethnic groups, both men and women are more likely to marry another Asian - either within their own ethnic group or some other Asian ethnic group - than ever before. The data also shows that Asian Americans are more likely to marry another Asian than to marry a white person.
C.N. Le, chairman of the Asian American Studies Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, says he too has noticed a rise in inter-Asian dating. Using census data, he has found that about 10 percent of all married Asian Americans have a pan-Asian/inter-Asian spouse.

isn’t there still some ethnic hierarchies going on between all Asian ethnicities?
I mean, I have witnessed and heard many East Asians (not all of them of course) say that they would refuse to date a Southeast Asian (in particular Filipinos) because they have darker skin.
It’s nice to hear that intra-Asian dating is on the rise, but I still have yet to truly see that in California. Sadly, skin color is still a significant factor in a large amount of mixed relationships (be it intra-Asian or interracial).

Stark reality is that the majority of US-born Asian American women are still White supremacist Asian-phobes.

Jeez, yet another case of a self-deluded woman projecting her own racist superiority complex upon others…eyeroll. Cuz, the TRUE REALITY is that Pinays (66%) simply prefer marrying lily-White Aryan men, NOT that East Asians “look down” on them.
“U.S.-born Filipino and Korean Americans (women) were most likely to be intermarried at 66%”

^let me guess, a monoracial pseudo-intellectual trying to dictate what it means to be mixed? Wow, I hate to say this, but (most) monoracial people are one of the causes of oppression against people of mixed race, trying to attack our very existence!
I don’t buy into dating a lily-white man or that whole “hypergamy” (BIG WORD ALERT: it means “marrying up”) paradigm. As a mixed Pinay, I’ve steadfastly defied ALL stereotypes imposed upon me. And if I dated a Pinoy, it would still be an interracial relationship, because I am not a “pure” Pinay. (hahaha, what a stupid concept! “Pure” race? What are we, horses?)

^ But why would you (Hip Hapa) ever date a Pinoy when you “NEVER met an APA man who supported APA women’s rights”?!? (11-25-05)
You may not believe in “marrying up” but getting hitched to an APA man has got to be ‘marrying down’.

THE HIP HAPA’S FROM CALI?!?
It’s ironic that hip hapa, who sees herself as an activist, can recognize intra-asian hierarchy but not her own participation.
I remember the hip hapa’s comments on 11/25, repleate w/ racial generalizations & Fox News-style politically motivated buzzwords.
I thought her faulty logic was based on her location w/ little or no Asian population (or basing an entire race on the negative traits of her mother’s side of the family).
But the hip hapa’s from… California? Can’t blame your ignorance to a small world, but rather a small mind.
