I agree with amica. I'm Black American woman who hopes to adopt from Haiti. Yes, there are American kids who are starving, but there are resources for them. We have charities here and fast-food is only a dollar. In third world countries, there aren't charities because the country is so poor. The kids beg on the streets or get sold into prostitution. As a UN ambassador, Angelina sees those kids up close. I dare anyone on this board to go to a country and see an infant who may have no choice except to become a prostitute when she's about 9 years old and NOT want to take her home with you so she can have a better life.

what's wrong with angelinas adoption choices? if she can provide these kids with everything then why not! she even bought a house in kambodja so maddox can be there and feel like kambodja is still his country.she does good humanitary work.i like her a lot.UN is very important and having somebody like angelina as the goodwill ambassador, gives very good publicity.most celeberties become selfish once they get rich and famous, but angelina is so different, she gives back! look at Mia Farrow, she adopted sick and handicaped kids and gave up her carrier to raise them.how many ppl can honestly say that they would do the same? have u ever heard of child-prostitution?i bet u have, cuz angelina just saved 2 kids! kambodja is a very poore country, every pedofiles paradise.and ethiopia too.so think twice before u judge her.

Hmmm...should we also be suspicious of Josephine Baker, who adopted kids of different ethnicities and religions and dubbed them "the rainbow tribe"!

She has often said she wants to adopt a child from every country, so I assume that will include the USA as well.

I think she will take very good care of all her children, but it does seem to be for some attention. And it does seem like a collection. I am curious to see if she adopts a baby with disabilitiews or simply only healthy looking/photogenic children.

I hear she is a human rigths activist, but to what US organizations does she belong/contribute?

much as I love taking the piss out of hollywood "personalities"...
I don't know the first thing about this woman, as a woman, but I think it's at least admirable that she's walking the walk, so to speak, and rather than being some flashy hood ornament with her UN job, thinking it's cute or cool to be all down with the third world, or whatever... she's legitimately opened her home and her heart and led by example of the change that is possible.

It's not even about the race-- adopting is difficult. The psychology that each member of the family goes though, and WILL go through, requires a lot of strength and communication. Stars don't have any more or any less than the rest of us ordinary peeps, though anybody who can marry Billy Bob Thornton is probably tougher than most...

people are assuming that what the article implies is true. The fact is Angelina Jolie contributes and helps orphans from around the world. It is much more than just a hobbie to her, and many have written about her superb parental skills. Thank God for women like her.

Suppose that she adopted white american kids? They could just as easily be going to be hungry every night and suffering. (Yes, I know that in Ethiopia the situation is much worse than here-- but there are still impoverished white families who have no option but putting their children to bed hungry.)
Would she get nearly the same media attention?
What Angelina is doing is so representative of the idea that the white man can go in and save the world is they work hard at it one at a time. I feel like, though I'm sure she loves her children, she is conscious of the media attention that she's recieving in adopting these children. Honestly, if the number goes past four, I think that I'm really going to get annoyed.

I can certainly respect someone doing something because it helps others. But at what cost? Why can't she just help the countries her children are from because she cares and not because she adopted a child from the area? And if she decides to naturally have a child, he or she turns into a "spoiled brat" but if she adopts, the kid is forever thankful and not a "spoiled brat"? Again, I really want to point out that yes I appreciated the attention she is bringing to Cambodia and what not, but to think that it is without complex issues is dangerous. Adoption is a great thing but people need to realize that when you adopt a child transracially, there are different issues there. To somehow Tom Cruise one's way through TRAdoption is to say "race doesn't matter" and by suggestion, that race and race politics holds no bearing in life, culture, family, etc.

Sidenote: People in Iraq suffering under Sadam, best to just bulldoze our way in ASAP? Without fully looking at the issues and possible complexities that might arise? Without a full knowledge of support and alliance? Yes, you've saved Iraqi people, but again, at what cost? At what setting of precedent?
