Razia reminiscent of Sade?

JC
Razia album cover artBlack Entertainment reviews Razia Said just as she comes out with her new album, Magical. She is likened to Sade with regards to her sound as well as her mixed heritage. Razia’s mother is Afro-Arabic and her father is Indian. I listened to some samples of her music and I honestly don’t see that huge of a resemblance, musically (does anyone else?). I am sure that she is mostly being likened to Sade because of the “exotic” ambiguous looks they share.

“It’s true that people often compare my music to Sade’s music. In fact, I’m compared to Sade all the time. I think we share the same kind of spirit, style, energy, and delivery. Maybe it’s because we are two exotic women from Africa who have both lived in Europe and our music shares the same kind of soothing energy. I consider it a compliment when people put me in that same type of vibe as Sade because I love her music, but there are also nuances that make her music and my music very different” continued Razia.

See, Razia notices the difference too! :) OK, soothing I will give them. But there are other “soothing” singers out there who aren’t being likened to Sade. At the end of the day, I guess people regard similarities in ethnicity the likeness to trump all likenesses!
