Quaker oatmeal ad features mixed couple

CVK
quaker oats(Thanks for the tip, dmwiese!) Apparently Quaker’s Oatmeal has a new TV commercial that features a mixed couple: an Asian man and his white wife. Has anyone seen this yet? If so, let us know what you think about it!

i’m all for the portrayal of mixed races on tv
im a white woman and i have an asian husband.
it is reality, there are mixed couples so why not show it. i think quaker is very sensative to that fact by having that commercial!

When I first saw that commercial, I couldn’t help but smile! I looked at my husband, and said, “that’s us when we get older!” He looked at the TV and said, “I can’t believe they put a couple like us on their commercial. How consciencious of them.”

I think it’s good PR! Honestly, that’s the first time I’ve seen a commercial which featured a couple like us, and it makes me feel good to see someone finally acknowledging that couples like us exist, and portraying it positively. There are countless positive portrayals of White Male/Asian Female couples, but almost none at all (positive, negative, or neutral) of Asian Male/White Female couples. I hope that there are more positive portrayals in the mainstream media of Asian Male/White Female couples. Maybe if people see it on their TVs frequently, they won’t stare at us so much when we go places together. I think this commercial is a huge step in the right direction, and I am appreciative.
