We heard from actor Ian Chinsee about a new flick he is in. He is mixed and plays one part of an interracial couple in One Afternoon in the City, an Australian production. You can see the trailer here, and this is what he told us about the film. Sounds promising.

I recently starred in a romantic comedy which will have its Australian premiere in several weeks. I am of mixed race (Chinese, Irish, Jamaican) and I feel that the film is an example of positive ways in which people of mixed race can be portrayed. I would be happy to send you any photographs or media related to the film.

The film features an interracial relationship (my character’s girlfriend is caucasian) which the director thought would be useful to his realistic portrayal of the modern day notions of love and romance. Reactions to the film at its test screening were very positive and I feel we were successful as no mention was made of race. I suppose this is a testament to the director’s intention of showing that people are just people and love can happen to anyone.
