Does this make the whole African American Race mixed? We all (as blacks) have other races as part of our heritage..coming from Africa into the western world....my husband has scottish, indian, and black...from jamaica...i have indian, british, black...from the bahamas, native american and black from the us.....there are no pure black blacks in America!!! Just look at the diaspora of the African race and how slavery brought us to different places with different experiences... Yes, if Derek Jeeter was born during slavery days, he would be considered black...he might have been a 'house slave' .whether he considers himself black, mixed or not...he is a minority...a person of color...and he will get treated as such and has to know that he is a wonderful combination of races, to carry his culture and his history with him proudly...not to worry about racist attitudes..they will be there as long as there are races.......as for his choice of women.....maybe he's fascinated with what he considers beautiful....as misconceived as it may be....beautiful people come in all colors........it's what is on the inside that really matters........ If I'm walking down the street with my lovely white woman or asian or non black woman, why should a black woman be concerned about it? does that mean that she should have me instead, probably not, that black woman would probably not want me if I were single. If I see a black woman with a non black man, I don't swat it, becauase I don't know these people and it's not my business. As far as Derek jeter and mariah carey and tiger woods, I never heard them deny their blackness, they just want to acknowledge their other parts. I still think that they should only acknowledge their blackness because racist white people don't see mixed, they just see lighter skinned Niggers. People like alicia keyes only acknowledges her blackness, Lenny kravits, Barack Obama, Shemar moore, amerie, just to name a few. My theory is if you have one black parent, then your black!!
