India Awaiting is a play about an intercultural romance between an Indian man and a Spanish-American woman. It is coming to NYC soon — if you are local, come see a special preview show with SwirlNYC on Thursday, October 20th! I have gotten to know the playwright a bit through creating this collaborated event. She is really conscious of presenting an intercultural story that does not feed into the typical tragic/blissful dichotomy, so we are excited about it!

The play is a modern, cross-cultural love story between a young Indian man, Nikhil, and a Spanish-American woman, Janet, who face the challenges of assimilation, cultural differences and the traditions of their families.
