A win for mixed student

We first told you about Keith Cordell last week. He was the mixed 5-year-old who was denied a school transfer due to his race. Yesterday, Fox reported a win for the family.
A federal judge has ordered a suburban Cincinnati school district to allow a five year old biracial boy to transfer to a new school, rejecting the district’s claim that it would upset the district’s racial balance.US District Judge Susan Dlott says the district’s policy is unconstitutional because it makes race the deciding factor in whether to grant student transfer requests.
The decision clears the way for Keith Cordell, a biracial child from Colerain Township, to switch to a new school in the Northwest Local Schools district when his kindergarten classes resume Monday. Cordell’s mother is white and his father is black.
The district had argued that it was simply following state guidelines on maintaining racial balance in schools.
