Rock on, Jesse!

DiversityInc reports that Jesse Jackson is calling for the Federal Communications Commission to investigate televangelist Pat Robertson. On Monday, Robertson told viewers of his show, “The 700 Club,” that the country should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to stop Venezuela from becoming “a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism.” “We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability,” Robertson said.
Jackson pointed out that the FCC was quick to fine CBS affiliates $550,000 for airing Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction, but they seem strangely unperturbed about Robertson’s remarks. “This is even more threatening to hemispheric stability than the flash of a breast on television during a ballgame,” Rev. Jackson quipped to The New York Times.
You gotta love the FCC’s double standards. It’s ok for an old white dude to call for murder on his show, but God forbid that America’s children see a white man dancing suggestively with a black woman. That would be much too damaging.

Never mind freedom of speech, when did it become an incendiary issue to talk about a country killing a murderer? According to several news reports, such talk is a common place on Venezuelan TV. Sounds more like a witch-hunt to me. After all, since when did you or anyone else listen to what Pat Robertson says?
Yah, “Rock on Jesse!”! Lets encourage stomping on our freedoms!
