Continuing with today’s theme of regurgitating mindless celebrity gossip from unreliable sources… I just came across this story in SouthFlorida.com’s gossip column. Again, no clue whether any of it is true:

I read that Mariah Carey’s sister, Alison, has been arrested for prostitution for the second time in a few weeks. Does Mariah try to help her sibling or has she turned her back on her?

Alison’s latest run-in with the law occurred in June when she solicited an undercover cop on Long Island. Nine years older than her famous, 35-year-old sister, she had been selling herself as a way to pay for her drug addiction. Mariah has tried to help but is reluctant to give Alison money because she might spend it on more drugs. She did pay for her sister, who is HIV-positive, to enter rehab, but it apparently was not successful. Now the megastar is helping to support Alison’s four children.

Like Mariah and their brother Morgan, Alison is the product of a biracial marriage. Their mother, a vocal coach, is Irish-American, their aeronautical engineer father a mix of African-American and Venezuelan. The couple divorced when Mariah was 3, and she says that, while her parents were still together, the family had experienced a good deal of racial hatred. “[They] had their dogs poisoned, cars were blown up and my brother was beaten up,” she told Cosmopolitan.
