Another mixed spoken word artist on stage

Joe Hernandez-Kolski is in town (NYC) to present his one-man show, You Wanna Piece of Me? Check him out! He’ll be presenting at the Ace of Clubs for 5 shows from August 20th through the 27th. Check out his site for all of the details!
BTW, I met Joe when he recently attended a local Swirl event. He’s definitely funny, and will definitely address his mixed identity in the show — he joked about how very mixed his name is — how could he NOT address it!?
By the way, there is also some dance in the show. It sounds like it will be very entertaining!
As an actor, he just finished developing and performing his hip-hop solo show—You Wanna Piece of Me?—with DJ Jedi (Def Poetry on Broadway) which premiered at the Electric Lodge in Venice, California, then moved on to the San Francisco Hip-Hop Theater Festival and will premiere in New York at the International Fringe Festival this summer.

Joe’s a great artist–very talented and funny. In his show that I saw in Los Angeles, he addressed his mixed heritage in a way that’s insightful and poignant, and while that segment was a significant part, in no way is his show limited or focused exclusively to being mixed–It’s one crucial part of a larger whole, which on retrospect, is how I think mixed heritage is for many of us.
