alaafia kids coloring bookArrive Net announces new web business, Alaafia Kids. It was created by mom and intermarried wife, Jeanne Yacoubou. The site contains many products including dolls, kids clothing, and other educational products and resources. She explains the drive behind her new project:

Founder and President Mrs. Yacoubou, who is white and married to Malik, from Benin, West Africa, got the idea for Alaafia Kids Company because of an incident at a local playground. Her three-year-old daughter was snubbed by some children for no apparent reason.

“When this began to reoccur with caucasian children but not with multicultural children, I started to believe that it was due to my daughter’s light brown skin and frizzy hair. I looked for some dolls and books that she would see herself in and help her feel good about herself, but came up short. So I decided to develop some myself,” comments this enterprising entrepreneur.
