Congresswoman talks about her transracial adoption experience

The Cincinnati Enquirer interviews Deborah Price, the highest-ranking Republican woman in Congress, about her experience being a single mom of a transracially adopted child.
“You will find some people … that don’t agree with interracial marriage or interracial families or interracial anything, but I just think that any child that needs love and there’s a parent to give it, you certainly shouldn’t preclude that,” said Pryce, who was elected to Congress in 1992 and took part in the intense congressional debate over the issue.
Pryce packs her schedule each week so she can fly home to Ohio and spend several days with Mia, who stays with a family friend while Congress is in session. “I can’t say it’s easy,” Pryce said. “But you can make things work if you have enough love in your heart and the desire to see it happen.”
