Jewish, Latina, and on stage

In June, Gabriela Kohen will be taking her one-woman show, “Decoding the Tablecloth” to the JCC in Manhattan. I plan to go with SwirlNYC, so I will definitely report back!
An award winner at the New York International Fringe Festival, this autobiographical show looks at the experiences of an immigrant girl growing up Jewish and Latina in New York. Kohen movingly plays twenty plus characters from pre-Holocaust Poland to Argentina, to disco 70’s Brooklyn. New York Magazine calls it “A loving yet unflinching family portrait… Astonishing subtlety of gesture, expression and accent.”
