NPR interviews Generation Mix
CVK
NPR’s All Things Considered did a story on Mavin’s Generation Mix tour. You can listen to the feed online here: A Generation of Mixed Race Youth Speaks Out. The story is pretty basic, but at least it doesn’t further reinforce any of the awful stereotypes out there about mixed folks. Sometimes, that alone is a good thing.
Also, there’s a great quote in the middle of the clip from a very outspoken young college student in Washington DC named Rashmi Lal (spelling?). Preach on, sister!

Interesting report. But why was the fact that Latinos identify themselves as mixed race presented as a qualifier? This isn’t the only group of mixed race people in the country but it is the largest and most prominent. Latinos are not a monolith. Many Latinos are mixed with several different races, the main three being indigenous Indian, white, and black.
