I think that this episode really gets to the point that race as a concept is defined in our mind's eyes. We physically see race and attach certain ideology to our vision. That's why people try to "look for" the monoracial characteristics in our faces. I mean, I thought it was kick ass that there were so many mixedrace people on the show but why did it have to be on a show about models? Why do we have to sell our image to make a product look exotic and erotic like people assume our bodies are? The number of mixedrace women as models is probly what made the producers think it would be a good idea to "change ethnicities." Anyways, I'm just saying that everyone wants to capitalize on OUR bodies and OUR images but we should always be super critical because we are not necessarily the ones who are benefiting

I want to marry Naima, and if this world were perfect, she would be in my top 3...and would probably win. Lucky for me I'm 23 and in great ab shape and play electric and acoustic guitar in a band, - Arm's Length Away,- and am actually kind of wirklich good looking, and I play anything and I have a chance of atleast dating a girl who could compare in some way(s) with Naima, but to me right now Naima is the most beautiful girl in the world, and not only how she looks but how I can kind of imagine that she is makes me feel like I have a purpose, here, a purpose to life, I guess I could say. mmm

OK, this episode was not as disheartening as a few episodes after that. Now we see the Tyra ignorance (I am going to admit up front, that I do not like Tyra banks. I DO THOUGH, WATCH THE SHOW WITH AN OPEN MIND. I LOVE Naima. I just hope she doesn’t turn out like poor Ya-Ya from last season. Tragic! ) Now here goes. The editing for the show is amazingly predictable. How did I know that after throwing Keenyah into a casket full of food one episode, who mean that every episode following would be about her being a sloth. Coincidental or am I holding the torch for nothing? Lol… Cool blog and keep up the fresh thinking!

Has anyone noticed that the recap for last week's show at the beginning of this week's episode didn't have a single shot from the photo shoot in it? There are also no pictures of the shoot on the website, when in both places pictures from the shoots usually appear. I wonder if UPN felt sufficient pressure to erase all memory of the ads.

I agree with yoru blog about Top model. If you want to amke a difference, log a complaint with UPN Top Model complinat line ASAP Reference the episode and state youe claim. How "biracial" " Icelandic" and "African" can be states of mind are beyond me...the "mulit-facial" episode was absolutely ignorant...(310)575-
> 7000. Ask for the complaint line for TOP MODEL. In the response,
> say that you are a viewer who has watched the show for all four
> seasons and that you will now withdraw frm watching the show based
> on the black/yellow/white face that was staged and performed in the "Got Milk"
> episode which aired 3/29/05/ If we can get this out, we can at
> least get a chain of calls going so that someone will have to take
> responsibility for this crap. I have called and hope that those
> who saw it will too...

Not that serious. Top Model is just trying to put the models in diverse circumstances to see how they adapt to every environment. They had the models dress up as the zodiac symbols (crab, fish, etc.). If you take that seriously, you need to lighten up. Plus, just because people get made up to look like alternative ethnicities, people don't need to automatically flash back to references of black and yellowface that carry with it much heavier connotations. Was Eddie Murphy being antisemitic because he played a Jewish character in Coming to America? Not really. You should let harmless actions remain harmless and find real battles to fight and expose. Oh and Naima is obviously on another level from the other girls - she has my vote.
