GUESS WHO isn’t happy about this…
JC

Me! I admit I have become Mixed Media Watch’s unofficial re-make policewoman, but I just can’t stomach these ridiculous do-overs of classics! Forgive me if I am jumping the gun with my complaints, but…If it was GOOD, leave it *alone*. If it wasn’t broken, why make it WORSE? Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner will see a new version of itself in 2005 — Guess Who. In this version, the racial roles are reversed with a white man dating a black woman. In this version, I am afraid they will deal with the issues of interracial relationships with a bit less grace. Instead of Sidney Poitier, Ashton Kutcher. Need I really say more?

Interesting…I found a tid-bit about the director’s impetus for making this movie — his needing to work out his own fears. Wow. Good luck to his daughter!
The director’s reason for making the film? “I have a 12-and-a-half-year-old daughter who’s beautiful, and I’m sure she’s going to come home one day with some Lithuanian, Samoan, punk-rock drummer dude, and I thought if I did this movie I’d be able to work out my issues before that day comes.”

I personaly don’t care about dating another race. My nationalities are english, german, irish, and sicilian. I am dating a man that is english, indian, and puerto rican. He’s mostly puerto rican b/c he was born there and has an adorable accent. Can you tell me why it’s so bad that two different people go out? I don’t see it. What if your “BIG PERSON” is another race? You will fall in love with him, and then agree with me. E-mail me with your comment at HeavenlyLuvBug15@aol.com.
