Happy interracial love…I mean…Valentines Day!

Valentines Day is approaching, and along with comes a slew of silly articles celebrating everyone’s favorite forbidden topic: interracial LURVE…

You can take a look at some of these articles yourself. They’re all basically coming from the same well-intentioned but simplistic place: if two people can overcome racial obstacles and social ostracization for love, their love must be so pure and so true and so noble. Awwww…

I’m in an interracial relationship and it’s never been an issue. We get stared at sometimes by girls of his race and boys of mine. The only real issue I suppose is different ideals of beauty and worrying that we don’t match up to what’s considered desirable in each other’s race.

Same here - its not an issue with me and my boyfriend and our families either. We love each other enormously and deeply, to us race seems like a piddling thing in comparison. Sometimes I say that we’re an interracial couple because I’m human and he’s Vulcan. :-) That actually makes more sense to me than the way most people define the term.
